        Summer Work Program Career Mentor

        July 10th - August 17
        Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:30-2:00pm

        Type of Job:
        Student-Facing

        In this role, volunteers are matched with a mentee to help them explore their interests, develop their goals, and build their workplace skills. Mentors meet mostly virtually with their mentee to help them in a service-learning project and end presentation.

        VOLUNTEERS should have experience in a career field, be comfortable interacting with youth, and ideally have some experience mentoring, teaching, or coaching. An orientation is mandatory and although it is not required, it would be helpful to be bilingual in English and Spanish.

        Become a LEAP Volunteer

        Volunteers engaging in more than a one-time event complete the following process:

        1. Apply

        Share information about your background and make a commitment to upholding LEAP’s values throughout your service.

        2. Interview

        Meet with LEAP’s Career and Outreach Coordinator and other staff to identify the best fit.

        3. CORI and SORI Checks

        Complete forms and provide documentation required for LEAP to conduct background checks.

        4. Orientation

        Get the information and basic skills needed to support LEAP. Orientation is offered twice a year.

        5. Engagement

        Start engaging in your program role or project assignment, with support from LEAP staff as needed.

        6. On-going Training

        Take advantage of learning opportunities that will grow your skill set and maximize your impact.

        7. End of Year Check-In

        Give and receive feedback on your volunteer experience.
